From Soufriere
On Arrival at the northern edge of Soufriere
(See Map above) you will find the Hummingbird hill, very steep, and rough, this is the route into Anse Chastanet Hotel and Jade Mountain. Marked in red on the map.
About half way, approx. 1 mile ( 1.6km) along this road take the first right. This turn is at the highest point on the road, go uphill again until the road doglegs right and flattens out, at the end of the flat section take the left turn uphill. Keep going up until you see a pink house, very small on your right, park in the car park and blow your horn, we or Berthia will be down to meet you.
The roads to Soufriere are currently reasonable, but twist & turn a lot. From Soufriere to the apartment is a dirt & concrete road, mostly dirt, narrow and quite rough, whilst not so bad as to require 4 x 4 the extra ground clearance offered by this kind of vehicle is an advantage. In the wet some small, front wheel drive, vehicles, have problems with traction at the top of the Hummingbird Hill.
A Local drivers license is required and can be arranged by the rental company (see links) or picked up at the Soufriere Police Station.
